Fierce+Regal Founder Margi Gad Elevates the Power of Performance Wear

0

Margi Gad is the CEO and Founder of Fierce+Regal, an elevated line of performance wear designed to meet the needs of busy women everywhere who want to look and feel great. Her line, manufactured in the U.S.A., is made up of staple pieces like leggings, bra tops, and tanks made with high-quality fabrics and a sophisticated, mix-and-match color palette.

Before launching Fierce+Regal, the former private fine jeweler and mother of three consistently found herself in search of sophisticated active wear that could transition easily throughout her day; taking her from a work meeting to a social event to a workout without a full change of clothes. When Margi couldn’t find what she was looking for, she decided to act upon her vision and Fierce+Regal was born.

One thing on your bucket list: Move to Paris for a year ( but I have to learn French first!)

A woman in history you admire & why:

Coco Chanel. She single-handedly transformed the world of fashion.

A present-day woman you admire & why:

Ruth Bader Ginsburg. She is a badass!

Quote/piece of advice that you live by:

Everything happens for a reason.

Personal Anthem:

The Rolling Stones: “You can’t always get what you want ( but if you try sometimes, you just might find you get what you need)”

A book or article you read in the past year that you would recommend:

I’m loving podcasts right now. My top two are How I Built This and The Skinny Confidential.

What inspired you to start or join your current company?

As someone who works out religiously, I found a void in the market for performance-based clothes in luxe quality that could seamlessly transition from day to night.

How do you feel yourself making an impact and generating positive change through your work?

I love empowering women to look to their best selves. Our motto is: when you look good, you feel good.

What is one thing you have accomplished through your work that you are most proud of?

I feel really proud when I see women wearing my clothes and looking great!

What is one major work milestone that you would like to accomplish in the next year?

I’d like to learn how to manage the anxiety that comes with the job of being an entrepreneur!

What is one new project/endeavor you are currently working on that you are most excited about?

We have some really exciting designs coming out that I think will be totally unexpected!

What do you see as one of the biggest challenges facing your industry today?

In a really crowded landscape, its critical to have purposeful differentiation points.

What is a trend in your industry that you foresee becoming popular in the future?

Exactly what we are doing: non-sport-specific performance wear.

What is one of the greatest challenges you have personally faced in your current line of work? (Or if you’re willing, share a story of a time you screwed up & how you recovered!)

There are challenges everyday, which is the nature of starting your own business. A humorous story (at least after the fact) might be my FedEx story. I had signed a contract for specific rates from FedEx, but they neglected to tell me the details. I found out that I was being over charged thousands of dollars for every shipment, which can make or break a young business. Luckily my FedEx angel fixed the situation and reimbursed me — after my heart stopped beating for a solid minute!

What were you doing before your current role?

I lived in NYC for 25 years and raised my two oldest children there, while maintaining a full-time career as a private jeweler, hence the gold accents in Fierce+Regal!

What is one of the best pieces of advice you’ve ever received & why?

My sister once told me the key to success is “To Never Quit”, and that is ingrained in my soul and my mantra on the toughest of days.

What is one of the worst pieces of advice you have ever received & why?

“Don’t do it — you’re crazy!” This was the worst advice, in my opinion. If you don’t follow your dreams, you’re not being fair to yourself.

Can you tell us about a time when you took a huge risk/did something you were scared to do, and it totally paid off?

It was a huge risk personally, financially, and emotionally to start Fierce+Regal, and it has more than paid off!

Are there any great personal or professional resources you love that you would like to share?

For beauty & fitness: James Lewis’s class at SoulCycle is my temple, Nicole Perry’s class at Btone kicks my butt, and Fred Devito at Exhale Spa lifts my assets!

Charity or cause you care about:

The Pink Agenda and Cycle for Survival

Fun fact about yourself:

I’m hysterical and I crack myself up daily. Hey, if you can’t laugh at yourself, who can you laugh at?! Another fun fact is that nature makes me nervous — I prefer the grit of city streets!
