Feeling the Bliss with Entrepreneur, Author & Self-Love Guru Lori Harder

Job Title: Author, self-love junkie, founder of The Bliss Project, podcast host, “Earn Your Happy”

Currently based in: Santa Monica, CA

Originally from: Marquette, MI

Your superpower: Creating a tribe and real authentic connections. Also, manifesting.

One thing on your bucket list: I’d love to be on “Dancing with the Stars” — but I’ve got about 50 things on my list!

A woman in history you admire and why: Oprah, because she has created a space and platform to elevate other people and share their visions and dreams. That is what I want to do for others.

A current woman you admire and why: My friend Danette May. She is a warrior of self-love and female empowerment. She is so willing to go to dark corners and sit in the discomfort and fire of the unknown and uncertainty, and willing to have tough conversations in order to share her journey and tools with other women.

Quote/piece of advice that you live by: “A person’s success in life can usually be measured by the number of uncomfortable conversations he or she is willing to have.” –Tim Ferris

What inspired you to start your current venture?

As a kid, I struggled with my weight and was bullied because of that and my strict religious upbringing. I became obsessed with learning about fitness, thinking that was the answer to never being hurt again. I also believed that if I looked a certain way, it would make me happy. Fast forward to reaching all of my fitness goals (to the point of being on magazine covers) and I realized that my goals had nothing to do with fulfillment. This realization made me begin the search for what actually fills the human soul.

What are you doing to make history today?

We are making transformation fun, and authenticity expected and accepted. We are creating a new way for women to connect, bond, and create lasting relationships that will help us transcend into our highest potential.

What is one thing you and/or your company have accomplished that you are most proud of?

I am most proud of my new book, A Tribe Called Bliss.

What is one project you are currently working on that you are most excited about?

As of right now, I am most excited about my book tour! It is like planning a traveling wedding in five cities where you and all of your friends can celebrate together! It’s exciting and nerve-wracking all at once.

What, in your opinion, is one of the biggest challenges facing your industry today?

I think a challenge that people in my industry face is the fear of putting yourself out there. Also, having a “lack” mindset: When you see a lot of people doing the same thing as you, it is easy to fall into the idea that the industry is saturated, and that someone is already doing it or doing it better than you. That simply is not the case.

What is a trend in your industry that you foresee becoming popular in the future?

I see more and more women creating large events that are about female empowerment, business and connection. Soon, I believe it will be the norm for all women to be attending or belonging to some form of mastermind or like-minded tribe.

What is one of the greatest challenges you have personally faced at this job?

The biggest challenge I face is never having a clear HOW. Everything we do as entrepreneurs is typically not the norm, so there is no clear-cut path. I am always trying new ideas and new marketing tactics, and trying to be authentic while hitting numbers and goals. This dance can be extremely challenging, and you can often feel defeated — as I have many times after failed launches. I’ve learned that the most resilient, consistent person wins and that ultimately, the more I fail, the more I succeed.

What were you doing before your current role?

I was a personal trainer and opened my own studio in Minneapolis, MN. Before that, I was a barista with terrible anxiety who was too afraid to step into the fitness world for a long time due to fear of failure.

What is one piece of advice you’d like to give to other female founders & change-makers?

Create an awesome relationship with fear and failure, because they are required and necessary to get to the next version of yourself for your soul’s evolution. The sooner you can stop avoiding it and start accepting it, the faster you can live your dream life.

Are there any great resources you have discovered that you would like to share?

I’m a SoulCycle junkie! I’m also a huge fan of dance class – particularly ballroom dance, because learning to dance with a partner has so many parallels to life.

Fun fact about yourself:

I have competed in ballroom dance competitions with my husband! I also love karaoke and I’m currently working on writing and filming a lot of spoken word pieces.

Is your company is currently hiring or looking for partnerships? If so, where can readers go to find more information?

We are potentially looking to hire another assistant! We keep hiring and growing, and that is an exciting place to be in. If you’re interested, email customerservice@loriharder.com.
