Marla is a former marketing executive with over 25 years of experience creating innovative marketing campaigns for world-famous brands, including Citibank, American Express, Barnes & Noble, and WebMD. As a longtime passionate supporter of women’s initiatives, Marla founded Like a Boss Girls – a digital platform and community that provides women with the tools, information and inspiration they need to better define, explore and connect with their goals. She built Like a Boss Girls to be a resource for women who are on the pursuit for success; a home base for the entrepreneurs, social activists, leaders and go-getters of today.
Marla is a passionate advocate for women, focused on ensuring that all women have a seat at the table and equal access to incredible opportunities and experiences. Like a Boss Girls is a manifestation of Marla’s greatest purpose in life – to help women figure out what they want in life and to assist them through this process.
On a personal note, Marla loves to read good spy novels and travel. She especially loves her family and chocolate ice cream.
Meredith is a fun-loving, fiery-spirited female with a passion for empowering women and a penchant for pushing the envelope that was evident from a very young age. In 2015, she cofounded the first bourbon company with a brand story celebrating the little-known female history of the American whiskey industry. Meredith’s sales and marketing hustle in this position earned her brand placement into the largest national spirits retailer within six months of their launch.
Meredith is an experienced brand strategist and copywriter who is passionate about finding ways to infiltrate new ideas and progressive messaging into popular culture. She is proud to be a recent addition to the Like a Boss Girls team and looks forward to creating awesome content that will continue to engage and inspire a dynamic community of badass women!
Meredith originally hails from Wisconsin, but is excited to be on the verge of earning her “Official New Yorker” 10-year card. She currently lives in Soho with her partner Andrew in 325 square feet of domestic bliss. When she’s not too busy being a blood-sucking feminist, Meredith’s other interests include home improvement projects, spending time with friends, almost all yard and board games (except Settlers of Catan, which is the WORST), Switch Playground workouts, travel (obviously), finding sneaky deals on eBay and Craigslist, writing other people’s dating profiles, and participating in a wide variety of activities around the city.
Business Development and Partnerships Executive
After growing up in the Midwest, Lori felt an immediate pull to the energy of New York City. She spent the first six years of her career working on Wall Street, traveling the world as an interest rate swap broker for emerging markets. In the midst of a crackdown on Wall Street regulations, she pivoted and collaborated in building an electronic side of the business, and went on to become one of the top revenue-generating female brokers in her company.
After leaving Wall Street, Lori dipped her toes into several businesses, including personal training and real estate. She ended up making an appearance on the reality series Million Dollar Listing, which was quite fun, but also helped her to realize that her true passion was in entrepreneurship and helping others (particularly females) to pursue their dreams and live their best lives.
To get some experience in the startup world, Lori took on a position as Head of Marketing and Sales for a pet product startup in Long Island, where she learned an incredible amount of valuable information about building a business. She was able to combine her new startup knowledge with her passion for animal welfare to build a socially conscious vegan coffee creamer company called Unicreamer that gives back to animal welfare programs.
Upon discovering Like a Boss Girls, Lori immediately gravitated to the platform because of the way that it provides millennial women with extremely relevant information and tools to move forward in their lives and careers. She says that the content and voice of Like A Boss Girls is like having a group of amazing female mentors right at your fingertips in an easy-access, “boss chick” club — and she is so thrilled to be a part of it!
